Bodies of Water is a quartet from Los Angeles whose sound seamlessly blends gospel, Laurel Canyon folk-rock, tropicalia, post-punk and God knows what else. If you need more specific points of reference, the band has listed the Mamas & the Papas, Talking Heads, Nina Simone, Os Mutantes and Cream as influences. The most glaringly unique aspect of their music is the fact that all four members of the band are usually singing at once - as loudly and earnestly as possible. Admittedly, that description may sound grating, but I assure you it is nothing but rapturous. Their first full-length, Ears Will Pop & Eyes Will Blink, was recently released to great acclaim. Four of the album's best tracks are available as free downloads on the band's website.
Listen to "These Are The Eyes" and you may be moved to hosannas.
